About Me

I’m a professional medieval historian. I earned my MA and PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in Medieval England. My research has mostly focused on English heresy, academic condemnation, the University of Oxford, and, most recently, student violence. I’ve taught at a number of universities in southern Wisconsin, most particularly UW-Madison, UW-MIlwaukee, Marquette University, and Carroll University.

I’m the author of one book, The School of Heretics: Academic Condemnation at the University of Oxford, 1277-1409, as well as numerous scholarly articles.

I’m also a gay man and a feminist, so my reviews sometimes look at films through those lenses. If either of those things troubles you, there are a million other websites out there for you to read.
